Today is Baking Day. Meaning, I bake for the week for mornings (now that we have to be at school at 7:15) and for the girls’ required snack for school. Also meaning I have become my grandmother.

As Sarkastickunt once said, “Any asshole can follow a recipe”. I am proof of that. A huge thanks to kitchen sexy savvy Discoballdad for posting a better way to make scones. Today we made blueberry and chocolate chip but I recently had success with cinnamon crumble using this method.

What is so great about grating the butter is that you don’t have to have a food processor! It all goes in one bowl and is done before the oven is even ready. Embarrassingly easy.

Tips:

use parchment paper for rolling out dough which makes it even easier to roll into the log and put in fridge until ready to bake.

frozen blueberries rolled a bit in flour

if you do cinnamon crumble, grate butter for that as well. soooo good.

freeze individually in sandwich bags and then place all into a freezer bag. throw one in your kid’s book bag in the morning-thawed by snack time.
