Good Tix

Based on the schools Ticket Rewards Strategy [when any teacher catches a kid doing something kind, good, helpful…an example of school moral code or behavioral goals…they give that child a ticket] we started tickets in our home.

I printed these tiny tickets and each girl has an envelope on their half of the “school door” (our kitchen sucks and we only have the small pantry door as space to put anything) to store their tickets. Examples of tix moments: Rafael got one this week for voluntarily loading the dishwasher. CD got one for voluntarily helping her sister clean up a massive LEGO explosion.

Like the school, they can use their tickets to ‘buy’ things or we can apply them toward a family outing like the movies. This way they just don’t get stuff, they are involved in the process of getting stuff; they in a way are contributing to the purchase. Friday they spent their saved tickets on new ribbons. My friend makes these and they got to design them.

So far, this plan is working. I feel I’m yelling/nagging less which is always a good thing.
