Gardening N’ Shit

Operation Grow the Halloween Pumpkin is still on track. For now. 

Thanks to WBee I did my best Hawkeye Pierce impression and performed surgery on the pumpkin vine that was infected by the fucking vine borer. I did it July 16th and it looks (cross fingers) as if it worked. We have 2 pumpkins on this vine and tons of blossoms. 

I cut open the infected area and extracted (killed the shit out of) the douchelarva. Then wrapped the vine with a “bandage” (white lycra tights…brand new ‘cause MIL bought them for Rafeal…why) then dumped compost on it. 

I have started a separate pumpkin patch just in case. 

In other insect news: I successfully attracted the predatory wasp to my garden with seductive flowers which in turn laid its eggs on the tomato hornworm. At this stage, I leave the worm alone and let the eggs hatch and eat it from the outside in. It’s my mini horror film. Suck it hornworm!
